Hello there!

My name is Julia Miles and I’m thrilled to welcome you to the Potential Factor.

My Story

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. For over 25 years, I worked in corporate, juggling a busy career and raising a family. I was so busy trying to be everything to everyone else that I forgot to take care of myself. I ended up feeling stuck in a rut and completely burned out.

But I found my way out and discovered a new passion for helping others transform their lives.

As a mother to two wonderful young adults, a partner to an incredibly supportive man, and a daughter to a free-thinking and caring mother, I wear many hats and take on many roles every day.

I'm also career-focused and a recovering perfectionist.

Most of my career has been spent in male-dominated work environments such as hotels, new home construction, heavy industry, construction, and rail. Early in my career, I experienced situations where my emotions and feminine traits were perceived as a hindrance. This led me to believe that being feminine in the workplace was weak, so I started to suppress my vulnerabilities and act in a more masculine, "just get it done" manner to get respect and advance my career.

Looking back, this approach only compounded my feelings of being an imposter. I was a perfectionist, competitive with myself and others, and a micro-managing control freak. The stress of my tightly controlled home life also took its toll on me, with my teenage son with Aspergers acting out, my brother going terminal with HIV, my father's diagnosis and journey with Alzheimer's, and the impact of caregiver fatigue and stress on my relationship with my husband.

All of this emotional fallout left me feeling drained of confidence, invisible, and increasingly depressed and disconnected. I remember sitting at work, feeling lost, and googling "MidLife Crisis for Women," wondering if there was ever going to be a light at the end of the tunnel.

But then, I found the answers I was looking for through Feminine Presence training with my mentor, Rachael Jayne Groover. This was the kick start I needed to start my personal transformation back into a more confident and empowered version of myself.

I became an Art of Feminine Presence Teacher, NLP Certified Coach, HeartMath Trainer, Coach, and Mentor, all to help others achieve their potential just as I did

My Mission to help you achieve YOUR potential.

When I first started coaching and training, I thought about my own journey and how I've always believed that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. I also thought about how so many people are in their own "rut of survival mode" and want to make changes but can't do it alone. Lastly, I thought about how when we receive the support we need, whether it's tools, training, or even just cheerleading, we can make great things happen.

That's why I created The Potential Factor. I believe that we all have that spark of potential to realize our dreams and wants, but sometimes it's hard to get there on our own. We all need help and support at times, and that's where The Potential Factor comes in. We're here to partner with you and support you to achieve your dreams and get more of what you want out of life.

So, if you're feeling stuck in a rut, overwhelmed, or just need a little guidance, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help you achieve your potential and live your best life.

My Professional Background

Experience in

  • Government (Local and State)

  • Major Construction

  • Heavy Metals Industry

  • Tertiary Education

  • Not For Profit

I feel lucky to have enjoyed a diverse career; and I feel that the breadth of my experience helps me to understand the stress impacts and issues in most workplaces.

One of my earliest holiday jobs while at University was – Scallop processing (which I was not very good at by the way).

After University, I had stints in hospitality and events, I learned about leads in new home sales, learned I had little patience from some childcare experience and got my first REAL taste of Public Relations as a Fundraising Coordinator for the Miss Australia Awards.

I ran a resume writing and promotional consultancy off and on (which was a great back up as I needed it around kids) and taught Public Relations at University for a few years.

I worked in Community Relations in the heavy metals industry then gained further experience (and won awards) in Stakeholder and Community Relations in the Construction Industry and then in Rail.

I’ve worked as a Community Relations and Stakeholder Manager, a Communications Manager, a Project Management and Controls Professional, a Bid and Tender Coordinator, an Organisational Change Manager and as a Stakeholder /Operations Interface Manager in mostly heavy industry and government roles.

I have worked and volunteered in the not-for-profit (NFP) sector, coordinating large scale fundraising and events (helping raise over $350k in one year); and also sat on local government, industry and NFP Boards.

I have coached and trained 100s of participants in Stress Resilience and in boosting their Personal Presence.
